Poço do Canto, in former times place, where old gods wandered about and left their fragrances.

Says the legend that, in the ancient times, Baco passed by Mêda lands. With His tired feet and exhausted  had no other way than stop in Poço do Canto (The Corner Well), where, finding a Lusitania family, asked them something to drink, and he was offered to the Wine’s God water, which only with reluctance  He drunk it and said: “One day you’re going to know what wine is”. 

And there it was, Baco was recognized, He ordered to plant vineyards in the Poço de Canto arid lands and it is from those vineyards planted by Gods we have today one of the best wines of ever.

Situated in the High Douro, in the municipality of Mêda, district of Guarda, Poço do Canto is a hard land, hostile, where the vineyard shows his vigour. Maria Lucinda Todo Bom producer is from these lands, those people, having her family begun the wine production in the 30’s and she, giving continuity to the family tradition, restarted again the wine production in1990 in the vineyards inherited from the family Todo Bom.

The young oenologist Mateus Nicolau de Almeida started producing in 2003 an excellent quality of wine, using traditional  methods, which with the 2004 production of “Quinta dos Romanos” was recognized as the best wine of  the region (Região do Douro).
